Food Choices Over 35

I have a confession to make:  I love food.  But, as a woman over 30 (or 35 for that matter), I’m struggling with learning how to eat for my new stage in life without putting on weight.  I’ve finally cut out added sugar (goodbye, gummy bears and soda!!), and I’m determining what my body likes for the level of activity I can currently maintain.

I recently stumbled upon a plethora of whole food, plant-based YouTubers.  After watching several videos and seeing their results, I’ve decided to try this way of eating.  I know that nothing happens overnight, so I think I’ll give it at least 30 days.  Additionally, I’m modifying it to include some dairy and eggs.  Oh, and the occasional fish.  So really, I guess I’m a whole food pescatarian?  To me, the label doesn’t matter–it’s the diet that counts.  And I’m committed to ensuring that my diet mainly consists of veggies and fruits.

So, join me on this journey!  I’m committed to eating healthily and obtaining some physical activity at least 5 days a week.  I think I’ll have to portion my starches in proportion to how much I move, but that’s okay.  I’m looking for an eating plan that is sustainable and based upon some science.  Fingers crossed that this is it!

Who or what has inspired you to make a change in your diet and what is the change?  I’d love to hear from you!

I can definitely identify with your commentary on physical changes and even in changes in appetite. During Quarantine, I found myself eating more often but also resting more. What I also found was a natural desire to eliminate eggs, red meat, and excess cheese, so most of my purchases came from the frozen produce aisle, because budgets HA!, and also increased consumption of dark leafy greens and fruits. Don’t know how I got here, but the changes have yielded great results. 20lbs lighter as of today, post quarantine!! Go 35!!!
